We offer two types of consultations.
Transfer client consultations are specifically for clients who already have Sisterlocks, Microlocks or Interlocks.
New client consultations, which are for clients who wish to start their Sisterlocks, Microlocks or Interlocks journey. After the consultation is completed and you're happy to go ahead with booking a date for the establishment, you will be given 12 tester locs, usually at the back of the head. This determines which locking style is suitable for your specific hair type. The sample locks will be done at the same size you desire your future locks to resemble. At this stage you will also see how much scalp will be visible.
A hair consultation is a crucial step in achieving the desired look and health for your hair. During this session, several important topics are typically covered to ensure both the loctician and the client are on the same page. First and foremost, the consultation often begins with a discussion about the client's hair history. This includes past chemical treatments, such as colouring, perming, or relaxing.
Next, the loctician and client will delve into the client's desired outcome. This will involve discussing the prefered loc size the client wishes to obtain. The loctician will also delve into the client's lifestyle and daily hair care routine. For example, someone with a busy schedule may prefer medium to large locs, while another may prefer the smaller locs.
Finally, the health of the client's hair and scalp is evaluated. This part of the consultation is critical because it determines the feasibility of achieving the desired look without causing damage. The stylist may examine the hair's texture, porosity, and elasticity, and discuss any scalp issues like dryness or dandruff. Recommendations for products and treatments to improve hair health may also be made. By the end of the consultation, both the loctician and client should have a clear, agreed-upon plan for achieving the desired hair goals while maintaining or improving hair health.
Re-tightenings are carried out every 4-6 weeks. This is essential to keep your locs healthy and to prevent any weaknesses within your locs.
We provide appointments for clients who have gone way beyond their standard 6 weeks appointment.
These appointments require more time and cost are significally higher than a standard 4-6 weeks retie.
Regular washing is crucial, but a thorough detox can help remove deep-seated residues that regular shampooing might miss. Detoxing your locs involves using natural ingredients and techniques to cleanse your hair and scalp deeply, promoting optimal hair health.
The process typically starts with a thorough shampooing. A sulfate-free shampoo is often used to cleanse the scalp and hair without stripping away essential oils. The loctician will work the shampoo through each loc, ensuring that every strand gets cleaned. Following the wash, the detox phase begins, which may include soaking the locs in a solution of apple cider vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice and water. This mixture helps to break down and dissolve any stubborn buildup from products, hard water, or environmental pollutants.
After the detox soak, your loctician will rinse your locs thoroughly to remove all traces of the detox solution.
Incorporating a wash and detox services into your loc care routine (no more than twice a year) can prevent issues like scalp irritation, unpleasant odors, and weakened hair structure, ensuring your locs remain healthy and vibrant.
